The Skinny

The You+Me 4-in-1 is a soft, structured carrier with average features and functionality compared to the competition. This carrier accepts little ones from 8-32 lbs and has three different carry positions to cater to your baby's needs while moving around on outings. The You+Me is easy enough to use, but it lacks some details found in the competition that makes a baby carrier stand out from the pack. While it also features a budget-friendly price (especially if you can get it on sale), we suspect you'll want to use it less often than a higher-priced and higher-scoring option in our best baby carrier review.

Our Analysis and Test Results

You+Me Carrier company appears to be a one-product outfit with little information about the company or its origins. The company website focuses on the 4-1 carrier and the included drool bib. It features how-to videos and a product registration page.

Baby's Comfort

The You+Me offers average features for comfort for little ones. With this being one of the most important considerations in a carrier, we feel little ones should be ultra-comfortable in their carrier while transported around. The carrier's seat feels supportive and nicely padded, but the head support is lacking, and our testers felt the need to support the baby's head with a hand instead of letting the carrier do its job. The fabric, perhaps in its attempt to be cooling and allow airflow, is rougher than the competition and could be unfriendly to little ones with more sensitive skin. Even the included facecloth/bib isn't as soft as we'd expect it to be.

There isn't much opportunity to adjust this carrier for the baby's comfort, and we worry some little ones won't find it cozy in the long run, especially as they grow taller and outside the height of the provided head support.

The You+Me struggled to offer enough adjustability for users with wider or larger shoulders than the average.

Parent's Comfort

The You+Me is average for parent comfort. With padded shoulder straps and a supportive waistband, it feels pretty good at the start. However, the carrier starts to feel less comfy over the long haul. The shoulder straps are somewhat snug on the shoulders, with no way to make adjustments for wider shoulders. While the straps' length is adjustable, there isn't much else going on that can help you as the day wears on.

The waist strap on the You+Me has adequate padding under the baby carrier area, which helps add structure to keep little ones in place, but the rest of the strap isn't very soft, leading to chaffing in our tests on multiple adults.

Ease of Use

Putting on the You+Me is akin to putting on a backpack on your back or backward when worn in the front. Making the connections and using the clips is easy enough, and we didn't experience any hiccups during testing.

The You+Me comes with a drool bib to help keep spit-up and such off of the carrier and hopefully reduce cleaning efforts.

Putting the baby in the pack was more challenging than most of the competition. Even after following the available how-to videos, it felt more convoluted than it should be. It seems like there are more steps than similarly styled carriers with lots of buckles and buttons to manage.

The user manual is so-so compared to the competition, but we appreciate that they provide online videos if you have the desire and knowledge to find them.

Ease of Cleaning

The You+Me can go in your washing machine, which is good as babies can be messy, especially with drool and spit-up. However, like most soft structured carriers, it has to line dry or lay flat to dry. While not unusual, this can lead to a longer downtime when you can't use your carrier. Depending on the humidity level in your home or area, the downtime can be overnight or longer.

Should You Buy the You+Me 4-in-1?

The You+Me may be inexpensive but compared to the tough competition of carriers, it's uninspiring and lacks valuable features. We think other baby carriers in the lineup can offer a more enjoyable babywearing experience for you and your little one and that you can pass on this contender.

What Other Baby Carriers Should You Consider?

If you don't want to invest too much in a baby carrier, consider the Boba Wrap or Baby K'tan Original. Both baby carriers are affordable, more comfortable, and easier to use than the You+Me.
