This recall involves the 4moms MamaRoo Baby Swing, versions 1.0 through 4.0 and RockaRoo Baby Rockers.

This recall includes two million MamaRoo swings and 220,000 RockaRoo rockers. Also, 60,000 MamaRoo and 10,000 RockaRoo in Canada. This recall only includes MamaRoo models with a 3-point harness, versions 1.0 and 2.0 (model number 4M-005), version 3.0 (model number 1026), and version 4.0 (model number 1037). The MamaRoo model with a 5-point harness is not included in this recall. The RockaRoo is a baby rocker with front to back motion. The model number 4M-012 is located on the bottom of the rocker.

We reviewed a version of this in our baby swing review. Depending on when your model was made, this recall could apply to your 4Moms swing.

Concern/Hazard

When the 4moms swing or rocker is not being used, thee restraint straps can dangle behind and below the seating area and crawling infants not contained in the seat can become entangled in the straps, creating a strangulation hazard.

Confirmed Incidents

Two entanglement reports and one death confirmed, both in 10 month old babies. Both infants carwled under the seat of an unoccupied MamaRoo infant swing; a 10-month-old infant died from asphyxiation, and another suffered bruising to his neck before being rescued. No incidents with the RockaRoo have been reported.

Remedy

Consumers with crawling infants should stop using the recalled products immediately. The products should be placed in an area inaccessible to crawling infants. Caregivers should contact 4moms immediately to register for a free strap fastener to prevent the straps from extending under the swing when not in use.
